What is Hypnosis?
We all go into a natural trance like state many times every day – we call it daydreaming. However, the clinical term is hypnosis. This is when the mind wanderers off to a different time and place. Eg: When listening to someone that bores you, we drift away and don’t hear what they say. The subconscious mind comes forward and carries out the automatic tasks. For therapy or self-hypnosis we just add relaxation to the day dream to create long lasting change.
What does hypnosis feel like?
Hypnosis is a pleasant state of mental and physical relaxation. This focus of the mind increases so the subconscious mind becomes more receptive and responsive to positive suggestion, ideas and visualisation.
Will I be asleep during hypnosis?
Absolutely not. Hypnosis is the theta wave of the brain – This means we are between awake and asleep. You are in full control at all times. You can hear the hypnotherapists voice and any sounds around you. You can open your eyes and come out of hypnosis at any time.
What is the difference between hypnosis and hypnotherapy?
Hypnotherapy is what is carried out whilst you are in a state of hypnosis. We can’t change the past, but we can change our emotional response to it. Jan will safely guide you to find limiting beliefs and blocks then help you release them for positive and long-lasting change.
Who is hypnosis for?
Pretty much anyone – some people are more easily hypnotised than others. Like anything in life some people can relax faster and easier than others. A common myth about hypnosis is “No one can hypnotise me, I am strong minded” All hypnosis is self-hypnosis and strong minded people are great candidates as they want the change and will commit to it working for them. Is hypnosis mind control? Will you make me cluck like a chicken?
Hypnosis is not mind control. Hollywood and stage show portray it like this as it makes for great entertainment. Let’s answer this logically. If I had the power to make you cluck like a chicken, why would I? Why wouldn’t I use these “powers” to solve murder mysteries and get bad people to confess to crimes? You cannot reveal secrets whilst under hypnosis and you cannot get stuck in hypnosis. Hypnosis is designed for positive change for health and wellbeing.
